In my last article — “New Years Revolution” — I introduced you to the reality of “Championism.” The main module on the programmer’s dashboard.Society’s imperative that you must, no ifs ands or buts, become a Champion. A winner.

Championsim demands only one thing from it’s competitors. Superiority. Regardless of which role you choose to model — you must emerge number one. The Best. The “Top.” Top Chef. Top Model. Top Entrepeneur.

And what a dazzling array of Champions to choose from! Sports Champions. Entertainment Champions. Business Champions. Heros galore to model and profit from.

You must , regardless of your goal, be the No. One. The top dog. Energized. Driven. Laser Focused. Taking relentless action. Being increasingly productive. Always with “eyes on the prize.”

Like the song, Championism has “no time for losers.” And, equally, no time/interest in expressions of individuality and authenticity.

To maintain and advance it’s objectives Society demands you achieve, excel and impress. (AEI)

The reality is: Championism is the sausage factory. And Society is the delicatessen.

Your appointed role is to choose which sausage you want to be, so that if you manage to AEI correctly you’ll “move up” to the deli.

No worries choosing your “sausage identity” — because there are endless flavors in the Championism production line for you to model.

While Ego is the breakfast of Champions, Modelism is it’s “Main Course.” I mean, really- what good is Ego without a place to flex it’s muscle? And Modelism is that place.

While the “Wisdom” of Modelism is accepted without question, there are several “pimples” on it’s (supposedly)pristine face:

Pimple One: WHY would you discard the most precious gift you have — your individuality, trying to become (you hope) a carbon copy of someone else?

Yes, some will say: “Of course trying to be a carbon copy is ridiculous..I’ll just take the best parts”. Fine. So, how do you, with no factual concrete knowledge of how those “best parts” were created, and more to the point — what they contain, propose to extract them?

Bill Gates. Steve Jobs. Sir Richard Branson. Sir Tim Brenners-Lee(the inventor of the internet.) Did they model someone? Or did they have a vision and through their individual determination realize that vision?

Pimple Two: “Lightning nevers strikes the same place twice.” The times they have a-changed. Likewise the circumstances and the situations that enabled and/or contributed to your hero’s success. They’re gone. Vaporized. Finito! They didn’t freeze waiting for you to parachute in and ride your hero’s success train.

Pimple Three: Many successful people DON’T KNOW, or can’t give, a specific reason for their success. So -a BIG challenge to model that one — yeah? Bill Gate’s financial success came from the operating system he invented. But what combination of circumstances convinced/inspired/enabled him to create his revoluntionary OS?

And even if he is aware of them -how can you hope to re-create his past? (Hint : Yes, it’s Pimple no. Two again.)

Pimple Four: You don’t know your hero. (Even if you’ve attended one of his events.) You only “know” the hero’s public persona . The ONLY one he wants you/the World to know. It’s bright. Shiny. Positive. Inspiring. And bulletproof. A poster perfect example of the success you wannabe.

That — cold shower of reality — is ALL the “hero knowledge” you have.

Maybe he starts the day with crack and has half a bottle of Jack Daniels for lunch. Maybe he beats his partner/kids/dog. Maybe he owns a third World country factory which exploits underage workers in inhumane conditions.

Bottom Line: Your “knowledge” is a public relations triumph.
